When is Sex Counselling needed?

Sex counselling is when a sex therapist provides guidance to a woman, man or both. Usually various questions are asked by couples such as technique of intercourse, physiology, sexual anatomy, unresponsiveness, fear of failure in performance, infertility, conception of family planning.

If one is having marital problems with sex or sex problems, advice and help from therapists or sex counsellors must be sought. They can definitely help to solve frigidity, impotence and other sex problems.

When is sex counselling needed?

·         For men
If they ejaculate very soon, have a low sex drive or find it difficult to maintain an erection. Sometimes, men have lot of interest in pornography.

·         For women
Women need counselling if they avoid sexual activity or face difficulty in achieving orgasm.

Often, couples visit counsellors so that advice can be sought on various methods of contraception. A doctor or a counsellor must always be consulted before contraceptive pills are taken. These pills have progesterone and estrogens hormones that prevent ovulation by stopping the maturing of eggs. Since these powerful hormones bring about an interruption in the monthly cycle, it must be consumed only under medical supervision. The doctor keeps a check on all the side effects.

Some couples have queries about sterilization and whether or not it is suitable for them or not. It a permanent method of contraception for both women and men. However, a good Sex Counselling must be chosen who would respect the privacy and will provide the right suggestions.
